Divorce and Separation

Our approach: We developed a prevention program called For the Sake of the Children that was approved by the court system in Massachusetts for parents going through divorce. More than 8,000 parents have completed this program since its inception. This prevention model provides a backdrop for the individual and family work that we do when helping families through transition of divorce.

What issues can we help with?
  • Counseling for children, adolescents, and their families going through divorce.
  • Co-parenting for parents going through divorce to help children make the transition as easily as possible. We also offer a booklet on parenting after divorce: Planning for Shared Parenting: A Guide for Parents Living Apart. To download a copy, go to http://www.cftclass.org/resources.
  • Reconciliation counseling for families in which the parent-child relationship has become damaged by parental conflict or by an extended separation between the child and one parent.
  • Parent classes for individuals going through divorce (in Massachusetts only). For the Sake of the Children classes held in Brookline, Cambridge, MA., and Sandwich (go to cftclass.org or email parentclass@yahoo.org for registration).
